5 Quick Tips to Enhance the SEO of Your Squarespace Website
Most people know the SEO (search engine optimisation) is a really important part of making your business easier to find on the internet, however, many people have a hard time knowing where to start with it.
If you build your website with Squarespace you can be safe in the knowledge that it is already geared towards excellent SEO from the moment you start creating, and there is no requirement from using plugins or other services for your site to soar and rank high on Google. As with any site there are ways you can adjust your website to enhance it for SEO, and we advise to focus on the following 5 tips:
1.Create backlinks by collaborating with other businesses
To create "inbound links" (which are where your website has been linked to on another website) collaborate with other sites to write guest blog posts. Aim for high-quality sites that get a lot of traffic and approach them offering a guest post.
2. Give your images relevant names
Take advantage of the function on Squarespace that allows you to rename photos when you upload them. It makes them much more likely to end up in Google image searches if they have names that describe concisely what the image is of rather than a jumble of letters.
3. Add a tag line and title
This plays a huge part in how Google prioritises your site and how it appears in search results as it helps search engines to understand what your site is about. The option to change them is within Design > Logo & Title. If you add a small keyword filled description of your site next to the title you'll increase your SEO even more!
4. Create compelling content
Regularly posting useful content which answers questions that your target audience would type into their search engine is vital to increase SEO and traffic to your site. Make sure the content is related to your business and is insightful so that visitors are rewarded in their search when they come to your site. Be careful, however, not to cram your site with repeated keywords as Google will see this as spam in the long run and it looks odd to visitors.
5. Add your SEO search engine description
Make sure to fill in the search engine description within Settings > SEO as it has an impact on how Google ranks your result. It has to be less than around 160 characters but it allows you to give a little more information to people when they are deciding whether to click on your site or another search result. Keep the description concise and relevant to your site, value getting your site's purpose across rather than squeezing in lots of keywords.
